I’m running a 5k tomorrow. I had intended to run it dressed as Santa’s Elf, since it’s the weekend before Christmas. I figured I would wear a pair of tights and sort of a peter-pan style green cloth poncho deal and maybe a turtleneck.

Sure, I would look like an idiot, but it would be funny.

Anyway, the race is tomorrow, so I went shopping for tights tonight.

First I went to Junkman’s Daughter, the obvious choice for anything weird in Atlanta clothing. A blue haired girl helped me. They had some stripey tights that would have been great, but she said they would be short for me and impede my running. I guess they don’t make tights for men so much. She suggested American Apparel.

I went down the street to American Apparel, and went inside. I found a girl to help me, but it was the same story. No man-sized tights. Crap! the third store I went to contained a girl who told me to go back to American Apparel and tell them that Leah said she’d seen some real whales in there buying xl tights and they fit fine.

By that time though I was hungry and ready to give up on running while dressed as a complete idiot. Thoughts of tights gave way to thoughts of thai cashew chicken, so I started on a new adventure.
