Metalocalypse
Holy crap do I ever love Metalocalypse. I’ve been watching it fairly religiously. You can see an episode of Metalocalypse at the Adult Swim fix page.
Just finished a book called Alabama Moon, written by a guy who went to the same college I did. Nice work, fella!
I’m getting ready to go out of town for christmas and work. I’ll pretty much be out of town until Jan 10th or so. I plan to start publishing some podcasts around the first of the year which will feature live recordings of me rocking faces off, so look for that. It’s going to be fun!
I’ve got to get some sleep tonight. I am tired as hell. I’ve been staying up late and getting up early going here and there and everywhere. I’m looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and going for a run.
Have a great holiday if I don’t see you!
Running with Scissors
Wow. I just watched Running with Scissors. It’s fantastic. I don’t know if I can bear to read the book, because the similarities in my own crazy life made watching the movie a little painful at times, but ultimately, like a good workout, the pain was worth it.
It made me think how glad I am to have such a great family. Thanks family!
I’ve been listening to a single Stevie Ray Vaughan song over and over for the better part of three days now. I can’t get over how awesome his solo is. It’s the 13-minute live version of Life Without You from In Step, the remastered version of In Step. Holy crapcakes. It’s inspired me to monkey around with my main guitar some.
My gig Saturday was fantastic. I had such a great time. Matt Utterbeck filled in on bass, as Jon Morrison was indisposed, and he did a fantastic job. His energy level was through the roof on stage. I had a great time rocking out with him and he sounded killer, especially since we never even got a rehearsal. He’s that good.
I saw a lot of asses shaking in the crowd saturday night. It really made me feel a great sense of accomplishment and pride. I knew I was on to something! My vision for this music is really going to be realized, and it’s all thanks to my awesome friends and the network of fellow musicians whom I admire so much and who inspire me so much.
There was a taper at the show, and I gave him my address, so hopefully I’ll have some live recordings to show for it soon. When I handed him my address he said “Oh. I’ve heard of you.”
I called Jon and Mike individually tonight to tell them they have to come up with a band name for themselves so they can be Jim Hodgson and the Whatevers. They’re considering it.
I just finished reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It was a weird book, but really good. I enjoyed it immensely. I’m without a pleasure read at the moment, but I’m reading Sperm Wars, a book about human conception viewed as a war between competing male’s sperm. It examines human sexual interaction and relationships from a purely biological perspective with regard to passing on one’s genes. It’s neat. Read it and tell me what you make of it.
I just ate a mint that tasted for the first few seconds like the mouthpiece I had to use when I played football in junior high. They make the mouthpieces mint flavored, but the mint flavor wears off within a few days of using it. Then it just tastes like rubber and spit and sometimes dirt if you get knocked down hard enough.
I ate chili for dinner and drank a glass of milk and that’s a great way to fart all night. I have to stop drinking milk, but damnit I love it.
I wonder if Stevie Ray Vaughan or Jimi Hendrix would be blogging about their farts if they were alive today.
