The Heezy

The Heezy

Our back door, photographed in night mode.

I have had my digital camera for a number of years now, but have only recently really begun to enjoy it, and it’s all due to discovering the “night mode” of the camera.

Driving!

Shake, rattle, and CHOKE! HACK!.

On the night mode it takes a timed exposure with an auto-set aperture depending on available light. It’s rather neat.

The only thing is that people have to hold still or they are blurry. Sometimes that’s neat, though.

I’m late for a gig!

Long exposure night shots are one of the reasons I got a nice digital camera as opposed to a crappy one. There’s really nothing like being able to capture natural light at night on film…errr…digital memory cards. But you’re right, you’ve gotta hold the camera damn still or else it gets all blurry and messes up your shot.

For even more fun, you can set the exposure time to something like 4 or 8 seconds and point it at cars and just catch the streaks of the taillights. Or you can use this to overexpose a night shot a little bit and make the light bleed out like gossamer.

Hello and welcome, friend! My name is Jim and this is my blog, constructed entirely of dreams and opinions. My lawyer said that a disclaimer would be a good idea, but he didn't include any jokes to go with it. Damned if I can think of any either.
